170 William NEEDHAM of Pool, Sheen, Staffordshire, Yeoman, 7 Jul 1828. Died 23 Jul 1829.
Probate 27 Jan 1829.
The document starts by referring to an indenture of Lease & Release dated 15 & 16 Dec 1817 made between himself in the first part, his wife Elizabeth in the second part & John WARDLE late of Sheen, deceased in the third part of his freehold estate called  Pool  & other messuages of which William & Elizabeth are to have the use until their decease & that this must be written into his will & witnessed by 3 witnesses. I (Val) have not found any other information that helps me understand why, when or how much was the value of the estate but fairly large sums seem to have been involved. There is a mortuage of £280 to be paid, he leaves legacies as follows:- to William GOULD the son of Josiah GOULD of Oaken Clough who was a faithful servant during William's illness, his servant Samuel JOHNSON £120, Samuels wife Sarah JOHNSON £50 & Samuel's children Samuel, Hannah, Thomas, Mary, Ralph, & William £100 each when they come of age or marry & the remainder to his nephew Samuel NEEDHAM son of his brother Joseph.
Executors & Trustees: Samuel JOHNSON yeoman of Booth Low & Benjamin BRITTLEBANK gentleman of Winster.
Witnesses: George SALT of Flathead & Samuel RILEY of Ridgend, Benjamin BRITTLEBANK.
Note: The date of probate is apparently before making the will. This does not make sense, but it is what is written.
